Counseling is a range of techniques based on dialogue, communication and behavior change and which are designed to improve the mental health of an adolescent, or to improve group relationships (such as in a family). Most forms of therapy use only spoken conversation, though some also use various other forms of communication such as the written word, artwork or touch. Therapy may address specific forms of diagnosable mental illness, or everyday problems in relationships or meeting personal goals.
One sees a counselor and gains more understanding about his deep-rooted emotional and behavioral patterns. One learns to look beyond his hurts and acts in a more assertive manner to progress further in his life and a sense of belonging is instilled which is sometimes ignored during the age of adolescence.
